LANACO Marks 35 Years of Business – A Legacy of Innovation and Commitment to the Community
LANACO marked its 35th anniversary with a celebration attended by distinguished guests from the diplomatic and institutional community, as well as long-standing clients and partners. The event highlighted the importance of continuity, innovation, and the family values on which the company was built. During the evening, an emotional video was presented, reflecting on the company’s history, the values passed down through generations, and a future in which LANACO continues to operate as a family-owned company committed to the community. The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to look back on a rich past, celebrate present achievements, and look ahead with optimism to a future filled with new challenges and opportunities.
The Founder and Director of LANACO, Nebojša Ninić, recalled the year 1990, when—supported by his family and with modest resources—he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey. The first office, he noted, was equipped only with a fax machine and a typewriter given to him by his father. Despite challenging circumstances, determination and a willingness to take risks enabled the company to find partners around the world, which proved crucial for its survival and growth.
“From day one, we were not afraid of challenges. We did everything for the first time—from introducing the internet to implementing biometric passports—and completed every project on time. Today, LANACO is strategically investing in cloud technologies, data centers, and security, and our goal is to rank among the ten largest IT companies in Europe within the next ten years,” Ninić emphasized.
He also reflected on key milestones in the company’s development, particularly the transition to cloud technologies, noting that building such a path from Banja Luka was far more challenging than from global technology hubs, but therefore all the more valuable. He added that LANACO today lives by a philosophy of continuous change and innovation, which will continue to guide the company in the decade ahead.
Speaking about the company’s future, Deputy Director Dragan Ninić emphasized that LANACO is entering a new phase of development in which the integration of artificial intelligence across all products and solutions will play a key role, alongside the continuous development of the company’s own intellectual assets.
“The future of LANACO is defined by two strategic perspectives: artificial intelligence as a mandatory component of our portfolio, and the development of intellectual assets that already demonstrate today that we stand shoulder to shoulder with global IT companies. In addition, our pillars of growth include cybersecurity, global presence, and investment in people and talent, with the ultimate goal of contributing to positive social change through technology,” said Dragan Ninić.
He added that LANACO sees its mission in creating solutions that benefit the community while simultaneously ensuring user security and trust—principles that will remain fundamental to the company’s operations in the decades to come.
In a video address, Sam Palmisano, CEO of IBM from 2002 to 2011, congratulated LANACO on 35 years of successful business in one of today’s most complex and fastest-growing industries—information technology.
“It is particularly impressive that this success was achieved from Banja Luka. LANACO has built a strong and responsible business, consistently committed to its customers, employees, the community, and society as a whole. Today, when IT touches every individual and every sphere of society, responsible use and the development of talent and skills represent key challenges. LANACO has consistently demonstrated its commitment to precisely these values,” Palmisano noted.
A special segment of the celebration was dedicated to the company’s socially responsible activities. Over the past 35 years, LANACO has invested in education and knowledge development at all levels—from primary and secondary schools to universities. In just the past few years, the company has equipped computer classrooms in numerous educational institutions across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
New equipment was provided to 14 primary schools in seven cities across the country, the Banja Luka Grammar School, the Laktaši Secondary School Center, as well as faculties of electrical engineering in Banja Luka and East Sarajevo.
Thanks to LANACO, students of the Banja Luka School of Economics are gaining their first practical professional experience using the EcoOne software. Recognizing the importance of non-formal education in increasing competitiveness in the labor market, LANACO will organize basic computer skills courses for unemployed individuals in Sarajevo and Banja Luka during 2025. All of these activities clearly demonstrate that investment in knowledge is not a one-time initiative for LANACO, but a long-term strategic commitment.
