Nowadays, technology is progressing and blind people can use the keyboard and listen to what the site says. Unfortunately, most websites in our environment have obstacles that make it difficult for people with disabilities to use them, what is a problem for blind and visually impaired people, especially because most of the information is provided today via Internet, which is the quickest and easiest way to get information. It is very important for website to be accessible to ensure equitable access and equal opportunities for people with disabilities.
By respecting the needs of all people, our company, in cooperation with the director of the ”Special Library for blind and visually impaired persons” created a web site that was adapted to the blind and visually impaired.
Slobodan Tabaković, our web designer, designed a website adapted to blind people which will contribute to more actively participate in events from their surroundings and the world. Also, their isolation and alienation from everyday life will be reduced.
The website adapted to the blind and visually impaired persons have great importance to our institution. It is primarily aimed at informing, educating and meeting the cultural needs of the blind and visually impaired, said Radinović.
The website is designed on the reader principle. Screen reader is an application that attempts to identify and interpret text information as shown on the screen. This interpretation is then represented to the user by reading the content of the site
