Technology is present in the lives of all of us, and the vision of an equal and open society implies that all, regardless of gender, create innovative solutions, be participants in education in tech areas – and significantly contribute to creating and understanding the world of the future.
In order to encourage all young women thinking about entering the world of technology, Gender Center – Center for Equality and Gender Equality of the Government of the Republic of Srpska with the support of partners, announced the Public Invitation for Participation of Primary and Secondary School Students, Students, as well as All other interested girls / women up to 30 years old, for delivering creative ideas for solving problems in local communities through the use of information technologies.
The submitted design solutions were evaluated by a panel composed of experts from LANACO, the Innovation Center Banja Luka (ICBL), the ROBOKIDS Center and the Gender Center staff, who are also partners and sponsors of the event’s awards.
Through the presentation of positive examples and great examples among girls, today three best design solutions were presented at LANACO Technology Center premises of Banja Luka Grammar School students, Secondary school of electrical engineering in Banja Luka, and Secondary medical schools, which in this way proved that they are more than capable and welcoming in the world of ICT.
This day encourages girls and young women to make their career driven by personal interests and talents, and not stereotypes, which in the crowded hall of the LANACO Conference Center proved participants of panel discussion on “Expand your horizons”.
“Girls and young women interested in information and communication technologies need to be more intensely supported and encouraged, in order to make it easier to opt for education and professional careers in these areas later,” is the panelists’ message, as well as all participants of today’s event.
