ORACLE SOFTWARE AND LICENSING

Oracle does not use the serial keys or other methods to activate the software. For example, you can download Oracle software from the Internet, but if you want to use it in accordance with the law, you need to buy a license. The license can be purchased directly from the Oracle office (Oracle BiH, Sarajevo), or through an Oracle partner that has signed a contract with Oracle regarding sales of software licenses.

Oracle licenses are not tied to the product version, e.g. the license price is the same for the Enterprise Edition database to Oracle 9i, 10gR1 or 10gR2. However, the recent version of software can be used only if you have already bought the support (which is paid annually) with the license (an older version). If you do not have contract for support but you want to move your older versions of software to the new one (for example you want to move from Standard Edition to Enterprise) you have to pay Restatement Fee. That is the price for migration.

Processor licences

All processors where the Oracle programs are installed and/or running must be licensed.

If there are Multi-core processors, the total number of cores must be multiplying by a core processor licensing factor which is different for the different types of processor.

E.g. for SUN UltraSPARC T1 processors, a core processor licensing factor is 0.25, for  Intel and AMD it is 0.50, for all other multi-core processors it is 0.75 and for single-core processors it is 1.00.

You do not have to count the users or machines which access to the server if you use Processor Metric.

Named User Plus licence

Named User plus Metric is Licensing per user (human and non-human operated devices). There is a minimum when ordering licenses.

• Oracle Database Standard Edition One: 5 Named User Plus licenses per CPU
• Oracle Database Standard Edition: 5 Named User Plus licenses per CPU
• Oracle Database Enterprise Edition: 25 Named User Plus licenses per CPU
• Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One: 5 Named User Plus licenses per CPU 
• All other Oracle Application Server products: 10 Named User Plus licenses per CPU
